Kids Activities at the Grain Fair
Vanessa Bolin, an Indigenous farmer, artist, and educator, will be leading hands-on activities for children at the Mid-Atlantic Grain Fair. Kids are welcome to drop in anytime to explore grains, learn about farming, and get creative with a few light crafts.
Example activities include:
Collaborative grain art: children contribute to a large, colorful design made from wheat, corn, rice, and other grains.
Corn jewelry making: kids can create bracelets or necklaces while learning about the history and importance of corn in Indigenous cultures.
Vanessa has founded community projects including the Eyes Wide Open Project, Richmond Indigenous Society, and Community Roots Garden, and has worked across the U.S. and internationally supporting communities and sharing Indigenous knowledge. She’s excited to guide children in fun, educational, and creative activities that spark curiosity about grains, farming, and the natural world.
All materials will be provided, and no sign-up for these activities is required.
