Common Grain Alliance to Partner with Future Harvest Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture on 2501 Program Grant Project

Roseland, VA (Feb. 21, 2022) – Common Grain Alliance is pleased to announce its partnership with Future Harvest Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture (Future Harvest). Last fall, Future Harvest was awarded a multi-year USDA 2501 Program grant to help socially disadvantaged farmers, ranchers, and foresters who have historically experienced limited access to USDA programs and services. Future Harvest will partner with Common Grain Alliance, Fields 4 Valor, and the Million Acre Challenge to implement the Agricultural Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI). The goal of the ALDI program is to create a tailored learning experience for BIPOC and veteran farmers to advance agriculture excellence and leadership building through purposeful enrichment.

As a partner on the grant, Common Grain Alliance will coordinate grain-related networking, training, and mentorship opportunities to support socially disadvantaged beginning farmers in the Chesapeake region.

Applications for the Agricultural Leadership Development Initiative are open now, with 20 seats available in our inaugural year. The ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience in the field. The application deadline has been extended to April 15, 2022.
