Natural Resources he returned home and went to work on a local organic farm. Building on the experience gained by working for 7 years at Homestead Farms in Millington, MD a leading grain and fresh market wholesale and CSA vegetable operation Matt started Tidewater Organics, LLC in 2017 after transitioning the family farm that had been previously rented out to organic production. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to grow the operation by working with landowners in Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties.

In 2018 Matt joined Blue River Organic Seed an Ames, IA based seed company specializing in Certified Organic corn hybrids, soybean, and alfalfa seed as Eastern Regional Sales Manager. He remained in this role through Blue River’s later acquisition by Farmers Business Network (FBN) and most recently Albert Lea Seed working with dealers and customers from Maine to Florida, west to Kentucky and for a time throughout the Great Lakes region and Texas. After many miles traveled and some great relationships with fellow farmers forged in the spring of 2024 he decided focus on the farm full-time with a goal of growing both the wholesale and retail food-grade grain side of the business, as well as further diversifying the farm’s rotation and continuing to expand.

Matt currently serves on the Board of Director’s of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy and recently ended his term as organic industry representative on the Maryland Agriculture Commission.
