Across the Mid-Atlantic, Common Grain Alliance unites farmers, millers, bakers, and other grain artisans working toward a shared vision — one where good grain supports healthy soil, thriving businesses, and equitable opportunity.

A strong Mid-Atlantic grainshed supports farmer viability, healthy waterways, resilient soils, and thriving rural economies. When local farmers, processors, and food businesses work together, they create markets that keep value in our region and expand choices for consumers.

Yet much of our current agricultural system prioritizes a few commodity crops destined for distant markets, leaving farmers with limited options and landscapes with less diversity.

Changing this story starts with diversifying what we grow. Food-grade grains open new revenue streams for farmers, fuel the creativity of bakers and brewers, and give consumers more ways to choose food that reflects their values.
